It's time to get those hooks out folks! It's going to be bright, it's going to be colourful and it's going to raise some much needed money for Kids Company.
Following on from the hugely successful yarn bomb of 3000 crochet roses that adorned the colonnades in the centre of Bath, Bath In Fashion 2015 have invited us back to work our wooly magic once more.
It's an honour to be a part of such a prestigious event and a huge accolade to all those who generously took part in last years event. Let's make this one a spectacle of colour that won't be forgotten!!!!
All hearts are welcomed. They can be knitted or crocheted. The larger the better and anything goes just keep them bright and colourful!
I have put together a simple crochet pattern to help you on your way. Please don't feel you have to stick to this pattern - it's only a guide and there are a gazillion patterns on the internet for you to choose from here's a link to one amazing lady (Crochet Concupiscence) who does a regular round up of all things crochet. For a great selection of free crochet heart patterns try this blog by Jennyandteddy . My all time favourite heart pattern is by Lucy from Attic24 and this heart pattern is really quick to do once you have mastered it. Hopefully the one I have outlined below is simple enough to encourage everyone to have a go.
For best results try mixing your colours and using 2 different strands of double knit for the centre and 2 alternatives for the edging like I have in the pictures above above. This is in effect a home made version of a MOULINE yarn which is created by twisting together different coloured yarns.
This simple crochet heart pattern uses UK crochet terms and I have used chunky acrylic wool and a 6mm hook.
Please send all your hearts to me by March 15th 2015 and I will ensure they are a part of the great heart yarn bomb.
