Enjoy a full day of mosaic learning the art and perfecting the skills as you make your very own leaping hare. Emma will guide you every step of the way as you master the art of cutting and nibbling glass and ceramic tiles. You will learn all the hints and tips for creating beautiful mosaic every time.

What does the day consist of?

Upon arrival you will be given a cup of tea or coffee and piece of cake to allow you to time and space to ‘arrive’ and settle in. The day will begin with preparing your wooden base whilst learning about mosaic design and the correct way to place the mosaic tiles to achieve the perfect flow. There will be plenty of samples for you be inspired by and you will have access to a wide choice of mosaic materials including glass beads, mirror and all manner of sparkly bits too!

The day ends at 4pm and you will leave with your completed hare mosaic together with all the skills needed to continue on your mosaic journey. You will also receive a packet of grout and full written instructions for grouting your mosaic which can only be done once the mosaic adhesive has set (24 hrs).

Will my mosaic be suitable for outdoors?

The mosaic bases are wooden and are pre-cut by Emma. You will use PVA glue to stick your tiles down making this an indoor only mosaic. The process for working a piece suitable for living outdoors is slightly different but Emma will be happy to accommodate if this is what you would like to do. Please be aware if you are completely new to mosaic you may find working onto a wooden base slightly easier.

Do I need to bring anything?

Yes. All tools and materials are provided but guests are encouraged to bring along a piece of decorative china that can be incorporated into the mosaic. Charity shops are a great place to pick up a saucer or two but don’t stress too much as the mosaic will look just as lovely worked with all the tiles supplied on the day. You don’t have to have china in your mosaic but it’s nice to have the option.

Despite being in a cafe the cafe itself will be closed and participants will therefore need to bring a packed lunch for the 30 - 45 minute lunch break where we get to stretch and take a well earned breather before diving back in.

Tea, coffee and cake are supplied throughout the day.
