It's time to make use of all those china plates I've accumulated over the years and turn them into something magical!
This old mirror has been in my life for over 15 years and in all that time I've been meaning to mosaic the frame. I'm a great believer in 'when the time is right' and having had a recent clear out of my garage that was full to the brim with rubbish I was able to get to my stash of china that was gathering dust in the corner. Once the china made it into the studio I knew just where it needed to go!
The real jewel in the crown is this beautiful ceramic rose that was given to me by the fabulous ceramic artist Mary Rose Young. It was originally on the lid of a broken biscuit jar and I've had it for ages not knowing what to do with it. If, like me, you enjoy imaginative use of colour then I can heartily recommend a visit to her studio. I've collected her work for years and it's been the inspiration for a lot of my own mosaic art.
3 days later and I can finally stand back and wonder why on earth I waited 15 years!
